"that government is best which governs least"
What i think Thoreau meant by this quote is the government that pokes there nose in the least is the best suited to govern. In a way i agree with this quote but then i disagree at the same time. I agree because the government today tries to control most aspects of life. They try to control our money that we make into making us pay taxes on any amount of money we make. Its not what should happen, the money we make should be all our money not be taken away. I disagree with this statement because if the government didn't have control over some things our nation would run crazy. It would be like the old "wild west" in a sense because without the rules of the government people would go doing things that make no type of sense. If the government even let go just a little bit our nation would be worse than what it is today.

Stereotypes in our society.
Why are stereotypes so widely known in our society? That is a question asked by many and answered by few. In my opinion stereotypes are so widely known by our society because they were started many years ago and were never really forgotten. These stereotypes caused great conflict in our society when they were first brought up that we cant seem to get them out of our heads. Some people still believe in separation of race and still bring up stereotypes because that is what they were specifically brought up learning about. Stereotypes are still strong today because people still come up with many of them everyday. Weather its about a race, gender or even religion. These stereotypes live on for generations and generations and even the ones that get made up in our generation will stick to generations to come.

History matters!
In my opinion history does matter. Where would we be without the people who made history what it is? I know, we wouldn't have the things we have as a society without it. We would not have had the first black president without events leading up to it. History is being made everyday that someone is alive to write about it. Weather your a teacher and your making history for your family to remember, or the president of the United States who's making global history. Without said history, we wouldn't know how things came to be in this world or in our country.
history is a lie!
"history is a lie commonly agreed upon."
What Voltaire meant by this quote is that history is told or taught often by lies. Many people agree on the lies told because they somewhat sound good and make history more interesting. When history is written it is written by the winners. Most of the time the winners tweak their story to make them more interesting or to make themselves sound good. these are the lies told by the history makers.
